Peerless Double Oak Bourbon
Kentucky Peerless | NAS | 108.8 Proof
Nose: Strong notes of milk chocolate with oak and vanilla wafting in towards the end.
Palate: Obviously very oak forward with rich chocolate, caramelized sugar, and I could swear the faintest hints of marshmallows. The mouthfeel is absolutely remarkable. Thick and viscous.
Finish: Medium finish with lingering oak and chocolate notes
Conclusion: At 108.8 proof, this bourbon is very approachable. This is a dessert bourbon that would pair perfectly with some fudge or chocolate covered strawberries (I would know because my wife handed me a strawberry before my last sip). Compared to a standard Woodford Reserve double oaked, because who hasn’t had that, this is much sweeter with a thicker mouthfeel and richer flavor, but also twice the price. I think I see a head to head in the near future.
