Penelope Bourbon Estate Collection 9 Year Private Select

Penelope Bourbon | 101.2 Proof | 9 Years

Of all the brands out there that has risen to stardom in the recent years of the bourbon boom, perhaps no one has had more immediate success than @penelopebourbon. The little brand that could started as a dream and has become a national phenomenon. These Estate Collection bottles are a celebration of that success.

Nose: The nose is warm and inviting with a toasty- caramel nose, intensified with a very light fruit and vanilla note. On later sniffs, oak and a stronger floral presence start to arise.

Palate: The tongue is immediately greeted with a delicious brown sugar note complimented by this subtle peanut dust note… actually on second sip, I would reclassify it and a sweet tobacco and oak flavor. Either way, the end result is robust sweetness accentuated by some light sharpness.

Finish: The finish continues the tasting with a medium length warmth that evolves and changes into vanilla with remnants of that oak from earlier.

Conclusion: Overall, very well crafted. This bottle comes in at a humble 101.2 proof but in terms of flavor intensity definitely hits in the cask strength division. Cheers to Penelope’s new beginnings at MGP, and if this release is any indication of what you can expect with a greater access to MGPs selection, Im here for it!
