Brook Hill 10 Year Old Style Bourbon by Rare Character “ssensewonder”
Rare Character Whiskey | 121.68 Proof | Aged 10 Years
This is one of my most anticipated bottles of 2024: Brook Hill Bourbon by Rare Character. I had seen some people posting and reviewing this bottle and instantly got my attention. The label is timeless, the story is entertaining, so hopefully the liquid inside is just as good.
Nose: Immediately introduced with standard bourbon notes of vanilla and oak, but in place of caramel, this whiskey has strong hazelnut impressions. On the back end there is some lighter, red fruit/cherry.
Palate: The whiskey starts off strong with lots of seasoned oak presence reminiscent of a much older whiskey. As the whiskey moves across the palate, hints of that aforementioned hazelnut and tobacco start arising. Lastly, heavy notes of fresh cinnamon start transitioning the palate to the finish.
Finish: That heavy cinnamon is still present on the finish. The whiskey, creates a very subtle yet radiating Kentucky hug that warms the whole body and perfectly rounds out the pour.
Conclusion: Man, this bourbon certainly lives up to the expectations that i created in my head. This bourbon is marketed as “old style” whiskey, so if that’s what old style is, take me back to those days!
