Found North Cask Strength Canadian Whisky - 19 year
Found North Whiskey | 124.6 Proof | aged *at least* 19 Years
Nose: On the neck pour, the nose was extremely muted. On the second pour, strong hints of port and muscadine grapes with a visceral tartness.
Palate: Initially, I was stuck on an Irony flavor that I kept getting, but after a couple sips, it started opening up to a much more fruit forward, tartness with hints of a medicinal note. Not necessarily a Dickel flavor, more of that muscadine muskiness. This whiskey is extremely reminiscent of a Speyside Scotch.
Finish: This is where this Canadien whiskey really earns its paycheck. Extremely long with a savory, peppery Mince Pie flavor.
Conclusion: Actually, mince pie may be the best way to describe this whiskey. Am I mad at it?.. ehh at $165 MSRP… maybe. It’s not bad by any means, but at 19 years, I would expect slightly more oak presence and even some pepper spice. I suppose that is the biggest difference between Canadien climate and Kentucky climate..
